LHSC Communication Department recognized for excellence
(LONDON, Ontario) London Health Sciences Centre's Communications Department received four awards at the annual Health Care Public Relations Association of Canada (HCPRA) conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
These prestigious national awards, called Hygeia Awards, recognize excellence in Canadian healthcare communications. HCPRA is the only professional association in the country for public relations professionals in the Canadian health care setting.
First place awards were received for the hospital's 2002 annual report entitled, "To Our Health". The creative lead for this project was Bärbel Hatje, Communication Consultant and Publications Specialist. Hatje also received an Honourable Mention for her work on The Page, the hospital's twice-monthly corporate newsletter for which she is the editor.
The hospital's annual event to honour long time employees also received a first place Hygeia Award in the Communications Program category. LHSC Communication Consultant Debbie Neufert was the creative lead on the 2002 Long Service Awards event, "A Cruise Through the Years…..Celebrating Your Journey." LHSC also received Third Place recognition in the Multi-Media Production category for the video produced for the 2002 Long Service Awards. This video was a joint production between Neufert and Julia Blaszkow, LHSC videographer.
This is the third consecutive year LHSC's Communications department staff have been nationally recognized for their work, including first place honours each year. In fact, in the past six years, LHSC's Communications Department has received a total of 21 public relations awards.
"We are extremely proud of this year's winners," says Tony Dagnone, President and CEO at LHSC. "The entire department is to be commended for their contributions to this organization. These awards clearly show that we have a talented group of professionals at LHSC who are leaders in their field."
