Hospital's legacy preserved by partnership
(LONDON, Ontario) London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and the London Regional Art and Historical Museum (LRAHM) have come together in a new, community partnership. The joint announcement was made today at the hospital's Annual General Meeting.
LHSC is making a gift of its historical artifacts to the museum, but will retain access to the items. The museum will in turn use its expertise to preserve and maintain the hospital's distinguished history.
"London is fortunate to have a large, internationally recognized medical community. We are delighted to partner with LRAHM and benefit from its skill to preserve our history," says Geoff Davies, LHSC Chair of the Board of Directors. Davies adds, "As a publicly funded hospital we are committed to ensuring every health care dollar is spent wisely, and for the benefit of patients. This partnership ensures that our historical collection will be in good hands and preserved for future generations."
"This collaboration is a wonderful opportunity for the hospital and the museum, and it will be a real benefit to the community well into the future," says Brian Meehan, Executive Director of the London Regional Art and Historical Museum.
LRAHM approached the hospital about a partnership after their successful collaboration in a display at the museum last fall marking LHSC's fifth anniversary and 125 years of public health care. This partnership is a first for the hospital and the museum.
