President’s Award for Living Our Core Values – How We Serve Our Patients
Brenda Cannon has been the receptionist on switchboard at South Street Hospital for 16 years. She represents London Health Sciences Centre with a positive and caring attitude while working in an environment that at times can be very challenging.
Brenda demonstrates respect for every patient or visitor who comes through the doors, greeting them with a smile and ensures everyone is looked after, whether that means directing a lost visitor to the shuttle bus, calming down an anxious patient, or sharing her lunch hour with a distressed patient and sharing her sandwich with him.
Through her empathetic attitude, Brenda builds trust with the people who arrive at her desk by immediately showing them how much she cares and assisting however she can. She collaborates with various departments on a daily basis to ensure the best care possible for our patients.
Brenda’s colleagues describe her as truly deserving of this award. She is a wonderful ambassador of how LHSC serves and cares for our patients.
