Children’s Hospital name change

October 1, 2007

Children's Hospital

(LONDON, Ontario) -- London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) today is announcing a name change for the Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario, to Children’s Hospital.

The name change is the result of several factors, including that the previous name did not reflect the range of communities we serve and the hospital was often referred to as “Children’s Hospital”. By changing the name to Children’s Hospital and including London Health Sciences Centre in the logo, we are clearly communicating the hospital’s relationship to LHSC, providing a strong statement about who we are, what we do and where, and reinforcing our position as leaders in children’s health care in the province.

The revised Children’s Hospital logo also aligns to the brand identity of the Children’s Health Foundation, our partner in fundraising, through the use of the teddy bear symbol. The teddy bear, with its outstretched arms, symbolizes a sense of welcome, comfort and safety and the child-centered, family-friendly environment offered at Children’s Hospital.
