Creative Minds Art Show At Museum London

(LONDON, Ontario) – London Health Sciences Centre is pleased to announce that the Creative Minds 2008 art show will be held at Museum London from October 4-16, 2008.

The art show is hosted by the hospital’s Prevention and Early Intervention Program for Psychoses (PEPP) and features art from clients, family members and friends as well as staff.

“This is the fourth Creative Minds art show we have organized since the first one in 2002 and I believe it will be the most successful one yet,” said Lori Hassall, PEPP team leader. “The volume of submissions, the number of artists participating and the overall quality of the work has increased every time.”

PEPP aspires to provide encouragement, advocacy and practical support in the realization of the personal recovery goals of young adults experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The role of creativity and art in helping many individuals throughout their recovery process is recognized, valued and strongly supported at PEPP. Community initiatives such as the Creative Minds art show are also seen as a way in which to address the stigma associated with mental illnesses and advance a better public understanding of psychosis.

A reception with the artists will be held on opening night at Museum London on Wednesday October 8, 2008 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
