For Immediate Release:
November 25, 2010
"We are currently investigating a new resourcing model with Cerner Corp., our electronic patient record (EPR) vendor for the past 15 years, to enhance their support for software applications and hardware requirements.
Many hospitals throughout North America have moved to this type of service provider arrangement to ensure they are focusing resources on the core business of caring for patients. This model is only in the review and feasibility phase at this time. We are conducting a detailed cost benefit analysis and independent third-parties have been engaged to assist with the review:
- A business practice/accounting firm has been engaged to examine both the business terms of an agreement and the specific financial details.
- A technology firm has been retained to conduct a technology assessment review.
- A legal firm with specialized expertise in health care information technology contracts and privacy.
We will not be making a recommendation to senior leadership until these steps have been completed.
Patient privacy remains our first priority. Information currently stored on our servers within our hospital system will continue to be stored in this location. The information would not leave the hospital system nor the country. No patient information will be stored in the US, and as always, it will remain protected and access to this information will remain restricted.”
