This is a very difficult and tragic time for the family of Joseph Maraachli. Our focus at this time is supporting the family by providing compassionate and dignified care, and comfort to both the patient and his parents. We appreciate the concern for baby Joseph and the many emotions that his case has evoked in the community.
Due to privacy concerns, LHSC is unable to discuss specific patient details. A legal process was followed and LHSC will continue to respect the decision of the court and provide compassionate care for baby Joseph.
Throughout Joseph’s stay at LHSC, the health care team has regularly met with the family and involved them in every care decision regarding their child. We will continue to offer them the support they need.
End of life care is difficult for family and staff, particularly when the patient is a child. Our priority is to ensure that all patients receive compassionate, dignified and respectful care.
