London Health Sciences Centre has attracted large numbers of new graduates over the past few years and hopes to hire an additional 250 full-time and part-time new graduate nurses by this summer.

Dr. Judy Boychuk Duchscher, PhD and founder of the non-profit organization “Nursing the Future,” has conducted research on the stages of transition experienced by new nursing graduates. This workshop is designed to help both experienced nurses and new graduates understand these stages, enabling a smoother transition from the student to graduate clinical nurse.

“London Health Sciences Centre is committed to providing support and encouragement for new nursing graduates, while also helping experienced nurses gain a better understanding of the role and behaviours of new grads. Initiatives such as this workshop help promote a collaborative and healthy workplace at LHSC,” says Kathleen Ledoux, Director, Nursing Professional Practice at LHSC.
