For Immediate Release:
February 10, 2010
(LONDON, Ontario) – On Wednesday February 10, 2010, London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) announced they raised a combined total of $178,434 for United Way of London & Middlesex, London Health Sciences Foundation and Children’s Health Foundation.
"This year’s employee giving campaign was a continuation of a partnership forged amongst three worthy causes,” said Cliff Nordal, President and Chief Executive Officer, London Health Sciences Centre. “It was a success in that we managed for the second year in a row to exceed pre-Campaign totals by over 25% when all three charities worked independent of one another”
The LHSC Employee Giving Campaign comprises three campaigns in one: fundraising is done for United Way of London & Middlesex, London Health Sciences Foundation and Children’s Health Foundation. The goal of the campaign is to raise the culture of philanthropy amongst staff. A combined effort helps to encourage and recognize staff giving as well as make it easier for staff to contribute to their charity of choice using a single pledge form. The totals are as follows:
Children’s Health Foundation $10, 618 London Health Sciences Foundation $44, 649 United Way of London & Middlesex $123, 166
Each year LHSC sponsors an employee to participate in the United Way of London & Middlesex campaign. From September to December this individual works within the hospital to help raise awareness of the campaign.
"My experience as this year’s sponsored employee truly was an eye opening and life changing experience. I'm so thankful to have had this opportunity” said Lindsay Manz, this year’s LHSC sponsored employee and fundraiser at the London Health Sciences Foundation.
Added Nordal, “Despite the challenges and uncertainty of last year’s economy, I am very proud of and would like to thank our staff and physicians who contributed to the Employee Giving Campaign.”
