London, Ontario - The doors to the Emergency Department at St. Joseph's Hospital will close for the first time in 75 years at 3 pm on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 as the department officially relocates to London Health Sciences Centre. Emergency signs will also be covered at 3 pm. The closing marks the end of three-quarters of a century of emergency service delivery at St. Joseph's Hospital. "We estimate that in its history, this department has cared for over two and half million patients, " notes Cliff Nordal, President and CEO of St. Joseph's Health Care, London.

As of February 15, there will be three emergency departments in the City of London:

  • University Campus Emergency Department, Windermere Road and Perth Drive
  • South Street Campus Emergency Department, 255 South Street
  • Children's Emergency Department at Victoria Campus, Commissioners & Wellington Roads
