The 5th Annual Children’s Hospital Metabolic Family Workshop

(LONDON, Ontario) – The Medical Genetics Program of Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre will be hosting a Metabolic Family Workshop to be held at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn and Conference Centre on Wellington Rd., on Friday, May 30, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The focus of this year’s workshop will be on Taking Care of Yourself – Families First, for both patients and their families and caregivers.

Throughout the day, there will be a number of sessions where families can learn from and participate in workshops addressing the day-to-day issues of living with a child with a rare disorder. Participants will have the opportunity to network with other families and caregivers in a friendly informal environment.

The afternoon will feature a keynote address, Transforming Stressings into Blessings, by Dr. Stephen LaFay of LaFay Life Legacies, Stratford, Ontario.

Saturday, May 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., a Low Protein cooking demonstration will take place featuring Malathy Ramanujam from Taste Connections, who will be teaching families new and innovative ways to prepare low protein foods. The cooking demonstration is presented by Vitaflo. This event takes place at Loblaws Wonderland Market, 3040 Wonderland Rd. South.
