The Ontario Hospital Association and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care released Hospital Report: Mental Health 2007 on Aug. 27, 2008.
This is the first time that mental health and addictions indicators are reported at a hospital-corporation level. Previous reports focusing on the performance of inpatient mental health were released in 2001 and 2004 and reported on a regional level only.
Hospital-specific results have been calculated using 2005-2006 data from 53 hospitals in Ontario, including 43 acute and 10 specialty facilities.
Using a balanced scorecard format, the report provides information on 23 indicators across four areas of performance:
System Integration and Change
- Clinical Utilization and Outcomes
- Perception of Care, and
- Financial Performance and Condition.
The performance of LHSC was in line with most Ontario hospitals, scoring an "average" rating in all indicators. LHSC will be investigating the more detailed results further to identify any opportunities for improvement.
