Partners for Life
London Health Sciences Centre is a proud partner with Canadian Blood Services “Partners for Life” program. As a member of this program, LHSC demonstrates a commitment to saving lives by setting an annual target for blood donation (in blood units) and encouraging staff, volunteers and physicians to help reach that target.
As an acute care hospital, LHSC cares for the most medically complex and critically ill patients in our region. Having a stable blood supply is a key factor in being able to care for these patients, and with areas such as our regional trauma and cancer programs — both high blood-product users — LHSC uses the majority of all blood products collected in London. As a member of the nation-wide “Partners for Life” program designed for corporate and community organizations, LHSC plays an important role in increasing awareness of the need for blood and rallies its staff, physicians and volunteers to make a strong and lasting commitment to blood donation.
Just one trauma patient can require up to 50 units of blood or blood product, and one leukemia patient could need up to eight units each week.
All family and friends of LHSC staff members are eligible to donate as an LHSC Partners for Life member - just register online before the next time you donate!
