I would like to be a part of the Waste Team at LHSC because...
We have but one planet to sustain our species, our planet is speaking to us in a language that our collective intelligence can understand, we just have to listen. Our planet is hurting and needs our help, let us all help our planet so it can continue to breath life into all of us. For Humanities Sake.

I would like to be part of the Waste Team at LHSC because there is a need to advance awareness and educate staff in an eco-conscious manner when dealing with waste. Waste is a by-product of our work and each and every one of us must assume responsibility to reduce, reuse and recycle in the workplace and in our everyday lives. I am not an environmental activist but I know my small contributions will make a difference.
I would like to be part of the Waste Team at LHSC because besides the fact that it has been a passion of mine during the last 15 years to divide and recycle all that we can, people in the facility want to be a part of the process, it gives the staff a common bond that seems to be disappearing. Nursing plays a large part in the usage and I can understand the problems that go with limitation in trying to recycle the products that we use.
I would like to be a member of the waste management team because I feel it is important for us to be more self-conscience of the choices we make. Waste management and energy conservation is an essential step we should all be taking in order to secure a sustainable and harmonious future for our children. Being a member of this committee gives me the satisfaction that I am doing my part in securing that future.
Currently there are no representatives from the Laboratory Services and collectively we purchase, use and dispose of copious amounts of materials that could be reduced, reused or recycled.
The main reason I want to be a part is I feel I want to make a difference. I am one of those crazy people who likes where they work and I care about my place of employment. The added benefit to all this is the environmental aspect. Increasing the
recycling program is huge for the environment. So many items are
recyclable which we don't recycle. Filling our landfills when it could be
recycled and save/make money. When all this happens I want to be a part of the team which made it happen!
