A variety of transplant announcements and special events, organized by the Multi-Organ Transplant Program and various community groups, occur throughout the year.

Upcoming Community Events 

Showdown in the Downtown, September 28, 2019

The 11th annual Showdown in the Downtown will include a gala dinner and an evening of professional mixed martial arts. This evening of fundraising will help fight kidney disease and improve patient outcomes after transplantation! You can watch this interview featuring the organizer, Dr. Faisal Rehman, as he discusses his approach to MMA and how he became a professional MMA fighter himself.

This year’s event will be held at the Western Fair Agriplex, featuring refreshments, delicious food, an auction and raffle as well as superlative entertainment. Partial proceeds will help support the Matthew Mailing Centre for Translational Transplant Studies, among others. Find out more or to purchase your tickets.

World Transplant Games, August 17-24, 2019:

Our e-store is a not-for-profit initiative with all proceeds from sales going towards further promotion of organ donation and transplantation. As well as clothing (jackets, t-shirts, ball cap), we have lots of accessories, such as notecards, Christmas tree ornaments, water bottles, mugs, and license plate holder. London Transplant Gift of Life Association: Looking for volunteers

This organization welcomes new volunteers to help spread the word about organ donation. Anyone who is interested in helping is invited to join. The group is also welcoming Western and Fanshawe students to their student chapter. High school students can gain volunteer hours by taking part in events.
