Diane Y. Stewart, former executive vice president of University Hospital, retired in 1993. In recognition of her significant contributions to the hospital, an endowed scholarship was established in her name at London Community Foundation.
This scholarship fund has been established to provide financial assistance to support staff throughout all programs and departments of London Health Sciences Centre in education which contributes toward professional development.
This year the Diane Y. Stewart Endowed Scholarship Fund committee received 32 applications. Seventeen employees were selected to receive an award.

The following employees were selected as recipients of the 2012 Diane Y. Stewart Endowed Scholarship Award:
Allaer is a medical secretary in anesthesia. She is pursuing a certificate in Human Resources Management from Fanshawe College.
Armstrong is a registered nurse on the paediatric oncology and surgery unit. She is pursuing her certificate in Grief and Bereavement from Kings College at Western University.
Birbaum is a social worker in the clinical neurosciences program. She is taking the Level One: Training for the Treatment of Trauma, from the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute.
Blanchard is a pathology assistant in the pathology department. She is pursuing a Masters of Science in Pathology at Western University.
Corpuz is a research nurse (clinical trial coordinator) in hematology. She is pursing a Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Excelsior College in Albany, New York.
Fidler is a registered nurse in the London Regional Cancer Program. She is pursuing a Masters in Nursing from Athabasca University, Alberta.
Gandhi is a registered nurse on 8IP - general surgery sub acute medical unit. She is pursuing a Master of Nursing: Nurse Practitioner at Athabasca University.
Gill is an RPN working on B6-200. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa, Ontario.
Joyce is a professional staff assistant in medical affairs. She is pursuing the Project Management certificate at Fanshawe College.
Lozier is a registered nurse on C5 surgical care. She is pursuing a Masters of Nursing and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree at the Bloomberg School of Nursing, University of Toronto.
Rabenstein is a child and family therapist with the trauma team in the child and adolescent mental health care program. She will be attending the Trauma Summer Training Institute at the Trauma Centre at Justice Resource Institute in Yarmouth, Massachusetts.
Read is a registered respiratory therapist in the NICU. She is pursuing a Masters of Health Studies at Athabasca University in Alberta.
Rice is a health information coder in the health records department. She is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Western University.
Sharpe is a nurse practitioner in the emergency department. He is pursuing a Masters of Nursing at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia as an International distance education student.
Thomas is a surgical suite assistant at CSTAR. She is pursuing a Masters of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Western University.
Rita Van Meyel
Van Meyel is a social worker with the trauma team in the child and adolescent mental health care program. She is attending the Trauma Summer Training Institute at the Trauma Centre at Justice Resource Institute in Yarmouth, Massachusetts.
David is a manager in information technology services. He is working toward a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (Leadership and Management) at Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia.
