LHSC completes Blood Donor Challenge

July 12, 2018

London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) is a proud member of Canadian Blood Services’ Partners for Life program, and aims to replenish some of the blood units that LHSC uses to care for our patients by rallying our staff, physicians, and volunteers to make a strong and lasting commitment to blood donation.

In May and June, those enrolled in CBS’ Partners for Life program on behalf of LHSC, who attended a donation appointment, participated in the LHSC Blood Donor Challenge. During this two-month period, LHSC Partners for Life members donated 167 blood units, including 10 groups and an incredible 60 new donors!

Thanks to all LHSC blood donors, including first time donors, and these groups:

  • London Health Sciences Foundation
  • Cardiac Surgery Administrative Assistants
  • Non-Invasive Diagnostic Cardiology
  • Cardiac Care Program
  • Southwest Ontario Regional Base Hospital Program (SWORBHP)
  • Decision Support
  • Finance Team UH
  • Women’s Care – OBCU

As an acute care hospital, LHSC cares for the most medically complex and critically ill patients in our region. Having a stable blood supply is a key factor in being able to care for these patients. Please consider making a blood donation! Visit blood.ca to learn more.
