LHSC’s FEMAP program receives national media attention

June 26, 2012

Dr. Beth Osuch and the First Episode Mood and Anxiety Program (FEMAP) at LHSC received national attention recently when it was featured on CBC radio as well as CBC television news broadcasts, including The National. The story examined the benefits of early intervention for youth affected by mood and anxiety disorders, and looked at the self-referral model currently in place at FEMAP, allowing youth to self-refer to the program rather than having to first see a family doctor or visit a hospital for assessment.

Dr. Osuch’s program is a first in Canada, and has garnered attention from mental health programs across the country for its innovative and efficient way of ensuring young adults receive the care they need, when they need it.
