Locating cancer resources in the South West region just got easier

October 11, 2012

The South West Regional Cancer Program is excited to launch its new and improved website today.

Neil Johnson, Regional Vice President for the South West Regional Cancer Program is very pleased with the new site. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to launch our new and dynamic website, which will greatly benefit patients and their families." It is estimated that over 5,700 new cancer cases will be diagnosed in the South West region this year. The new website was built with these individuals in mind, focusing on delivering content and information to help support them through their cancer journey.

The site boasts a new design, layout and updated content, and provides patients and caregivers with an easy to navigate and interesting showcase of what is happening in the South West region. The new site will provide the opportunity to share stories – stories of hope, success and triumph.

A link for healthcare providers located in the top navigation bar will lead to frequently used resources, including referral forms, treatment guidelines and patient handouts. Developed by Digital Echidna, the site was built using leading-edge "responsive design" that will automatically resize text and change the navigation for better usability on different sized screens, including desktop monitors, cell and smart phones and tablets.

According to statistics, 80% of Internet users look for health information online. For individuals seeking cancer information in the South West region, visit http://www.southwestcancer.ca/.
