To the staff and physicians of London Health Sciences Centre,
I am sharing with you today that the LHSC’s Board of Directors has granted Dr. Paul Woods, President and CEO of London Health Sciences Centre, a temporary medical leave of absence effective immediately. While it is believed that this absence is required due to a pre-existing medical condition, testing will be undertaken to confirm and more information will be provided in due course. Dr. Woods is currently in self-isolation at home.
During Dr. Woods’ temporary absence, the Board has asked Neil Johnson, Chief Operating Officer, to assume the Acting President and CEO role, and Neil has accepted this added responsibility.
The Board is confident in Neil’s leadership capabilities and he has our full support. His 32+ years’ experience at LHSC, in particular his many years of executive leadership, will ensure that LHSC can seamlessly continue responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Board has every confidence that you, the staff and physicians of LHSC, will continue to provide exceptional care during this unprecedented public health emergency. We are deeply appreciative of your commitment and your hard work.
Please continue to stay safe in the weeks ahead.
Regards,
Amy Walby
Chair, Board of Directors
