We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Lauren Leggatt is the successful candidate for the role of Medical Director of Education. She has remained active with our organization and Paramedic Services in our Region lending her expertise in medical education. In the upcoming months, Dr. Leggatt will be moving to the Windsor Region and will begin working at Windsor Regional Hospital Emergency Department. Dr. Leggatt will be a strong addition to our team and will be instrumental in the continuation in the development of excellent prehospital care in the Southwest Region.

We are extremely pleased to announce that Dr. Sean Doran has become the Local Medical Director for Oxford County, Medavie EMS Elgin Ontario and Oneida Nation of the Thames Paramedic Services. Dr. Doran is responsible for training and certification as the Medical Director of Education and as Medical Director to Fanshawe and Lambton Paramedic Programs.

We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Matt Davis will be moving into the role of Regional Medical Director effective April 1st, 2017. Dr. Davis is currently the Local Medical Director for SWORBHP’s Central Services and the Director of Education with SWORBHP. The Central East Prehospital Care Program will be hosting this year's OBHG annual meeting. As part of the event, they have scheduled some fascinating speakers, and February 25th will be a day open to Paramedics and EMS Operations personnel to attend. The session is being held at the Ajax Convention Centre, 550 Beck Crescent, Ajax. Registration deadline is February 6, 2015.

December 15, 2014: 2014 Continuing Medical Education (CME) Deadline Memo
This is a reminder that all Continuing Medical Education (CME) requests and documentation (i.e. attendance certificates) must be submitted in the SWORBHP Web Portal by January 15, 2015. This memo applies to Advanced Care Paramedics who are required to obtain 24 CME points each year.

Following the recent release of the Febrile Respiratory and Enteric Illness Training Bulletin from the MOHLTC, the SWORBHP Medical Council would like to highlight recommendations from the OBHG MAC for paramedics regarding application of Medical Directives in the setting of a patient with potential infectious symptoms and a relevant travel history.

April 15, 2014: Heartbleed Bug - IMPORTANT NOTICE
SWORBHP received notice that the SWORBHP Web Portal (www.sworbhp.ca) server has been affected by the Heartbleed bug. The LHSC ITS department took immediate action to ensure our infrastructure was protected and secured. As a matter of best practice, we would recommend that all our users reset their passwords.
