2016-2017 Annual Certification Precourse

Course Description: The online precourse will review a number of different topics such as ALS-PCS Updates, 2015 AHA Guidelines Update, Endotracheal & Tracheostomy Suctioning, ACS & 12 Lead, Endocrine Emergencies, Undifferentiated Respiratory, BHP Patching, Medical Directive Review, Introduction to FOAMEd and Simulation 101.

Prerequisites: Regional Base Hospital Certified


Dimenhydrinate (Gravol) Certification

Course Description: The online course includes a self-study learning package and quiz which has been developed in order to help prepare you for this new skill. It reviews the basics of the vomiting center, the causes and effects of nausea and vomiting, and the treatment of these patients according to the BLS Patient Care Standards and the Advanced Life Support Patient Care Standards.

Air Ambulance Utilization and Field Trauma Triage Standards

Course Description: In June 2014, the Ministry of Health released the revised FTT & AAU Standards with an implementation date of June 1, 2015. SWORBHP has created this interactive module to assist you in applying the Standards. The module consists of a brief introduction to the Standards followed by 20 practice cases. The cases will walk you through a number of FTT and AAU scenarios where you ultimately determine whether the patient meets FTT or AAU Standard criteria.

Special Events Certification

Course Description: You must confirm with your EMS Service as to whether these directives are being used locally before completing this course. With an increase in Paramedic involvement in special events over the past few years, we have decided to provide certification in the Special Events Auxiliary Medical Directives. This online course includes a webinar and quiz.

Course Description: This module includes both a video presentation and online learning module. Please note that SWORBHP is hosting this training within the Paramedic Portal to assist your Paramedic Service. SWORBHP has not developed the content within the module.

Zoll X Series Pediatric Defibrillation

Course Description: This brief training module introduces you to the Pediatric Mode available in the Zoll X Series Defibrillator for pediatric monitoring and defibrillation. This module is interactive and will demonstrate how to use the Zoll X Series for pediatric defibrillation.

Provincial MAC Approved PCP Autonomous IV Program

Course Description: This program is designed for PCP’s to provide them with the knowledge, decision making and psychomotor skills to provide enhanced scope of practice as per the current ALS PCS at the autonomous PCP IV level.

Analgesia and Moderate to Severe Pain

Course Description: With the recent introduction of the Analgesia and Moderate to Severe Pain Auxiliary Medical Directives, PCPs and ACPs will be able to add Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen and Ketorolac to their list of tools to treat their patients in pain.

Pediatric Pain (ACP)

Course Description: With the recent MOH release of the Core Pediatric Pain Medical Directive, ACPs will now be able to delivery Morphine to pediatric patients.
