The Ideal Dressing
An ideal dressing should keep the wound bed moist, protect periwound skin from maceration, protect from secondary infection, be free of toxic components, and not cause trauma upon removal. To enhance healing, the ideal dressing should provide thermal insulation and should be left intact for as long as possible.
