Recognizing Great Moments

At London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), great care is often built moment by moment, through quiet gestures, steady teamwork, and genuine compassion. That’s why we’ve introduced Great Moments, a recognition program that celebrates the outstanding contributions of our staff, physicians, learners, volunteers, and patient partners.

Launched in 2024, the Great Moments program makes it simple for both patients and colleagues to acknowledge meaningful acts of care, support, and innovation. Supported by London Health Sciences Foundation and Children’s Health Foundation, every individual recognized through the program receives a personal letter of appreciation from LHSC’s Supervisor, David Musyj, and a small token of gratitude.

“Every day, Team LHSC goes above and beyond to care for the community and support one another,” said Musyj. “I always enjoy and am so proud to hear when patients and families share compliments about our team. This program is one of the ways we are building a stronger culture of appreciation at LHSC, reminding team members that what they do each day matters deeply to their colleagues, their patients, and the broader community.”

Behind every great moment is someone here at LHSC who made it happen. Meet a few of the exceptional people turning everyday interactions into unforgettable moments.

“I recently had an appointment in B tower with my son who has special needs. Prior to our appointment we had stopped to buy a video game and McDonald’s, so he had them with him for the appointment. Once we got home, my son realized that his bag with his items weren’t present and became sad. I immediately called the hospital and asked about a lost and found and was directed to the Security Dispatch Centre. At that time, I spoke to a gentleman named Roger who was helpful right from the start of our conversation. I told him about my son and how much these things meant to him, and he said he was going to do all he could to help find the bag. About 15 minutes later I got a call from Roger saying the bag had been found! We are grateful that we had the opportunity to deal with Roger – he was so much help to us. He truly put a smile on my son’s face. Definitely a 10/10 moment for Roger in Security with his skill, compassion and professionalism!” – A grateful parent

“Thanks to Corrine’s assistance, we were able to successfully navigate through the numerous tests and appointments required by my clinical trial. We will never forget her kindness, encouragement and empathy during a most challenging time.” – A grateful patient

“Instead of explaining where to go, Rob walked us right to where we needed to go to ensure we didn’t miss the door to the unit. At a time when I was feeling extremely nervous about a test for my tiny little baby, Rob was so kind and friendly which helped make me feel calmer. What a lovely friendly face to have greeting you as you enter the hospital!” – A grateful parent

These individuals are just a few of the more than 1,500 members of Team LHSC who have been recognized by patients, families, and colleagues for going the extra mile. Each story is a powerful reflection of the impact Team LHSC has in our community.
