Staff injuries at LHSC

Staff injuries by type of injury

See Chart: Injuries by type

This chart shows staff injuries by type of injuries. For detailed definitions of the type of injuries listed, please see Workplace Occurrence Definitions.

In 2009, several types of incidents have increased when compared to 2008. This is most likely attributed to improved awareness and importance of reporting occurrences within LHSC. For example, the number of cases reported in 'Hazardous Situations' has increased considerably in year-to-year comparisons, indicating the improvement of proactive reporting (e.g. reporting a hazard before it results in an injury).

Employee assistance programs for health and wellness, fitness club access, Joint Health & Safety Committee, on site influenza program, and a smoking cessation program, are some of the organizational initiatives that have placed an emphasis on the health and well-being of the staff.
