About the Library
The following services are available to staff at Children’s Hospital. If you are not staff, you may access information at the Child and Family Resource Centre.
Literature SearchesDo you have a clinical question or want information about a specific subject? Working within your timelines, the librarian will deliver customized search results from the appropriate databases, providing you with the most relevant citations on your topic. Literature searches are provided at no cost for Children’s Hospital staff.

Search Consultation
If you prefer to do your own literature search, you may consult with the librarian about search tools, search strategies, search terms and/or limiting/expanding search results.To request a search consultation, call or email the library.
Interlibrary Loan
The library will obtain articles and books that are unavailable to you through collections at the J.C. Rathbun Library, the LHSC Library, WOHKN or individual Western affiliations. Some charges may apply for this service.

Current Awareness
The librarian can help you stay current in your field by providing training on how to set up regular automatic updates to medical journals and database searches. For more information, call or email the library.Instruction

J.C. Rathbun Library ResourcesOther Libraries
The J.C. Rathbun Library was established in 1972 with a small collection of medical textbooks donated by Dr. J.C. Rathbun, the first chief of paediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario. The J.C. Rathbun Library functions as a full-service library providing professional library services in serving the information needs of all Children’s Hospital staff, students and visitors.
Inside the LibraryThe library is equipped with study areas and Internet workstations. A photocopier is available for use with a departmental copy code or for a charge of 0.10/page.
The library contains a core collection of books, electronic and print journals in the areas of pediatric medicine, nursing and health professions. Some resources can be accessed from home.
