The Department of Oncology within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at The University of Western Ontario currently has 38 active staff members, who contribute directly to the curriculum of Medical and Radiation Oncology post-graduate training.
These programs are fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
and are delivered within LRCP and the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).
The Radiation Oncology Residency Training Program is a five-year program. Currently there are 10 residents. LRCP recruits 2 residents per year. The Medical Oncology Residency Training Program is a two-year program that currently has 4 residents and recruits 1-2 per year.
Medical Oncology residents enter following completion of their Internal Medicine training during their first 3 postgraduate years.
LRCP participates in the training of postgraduate trainees in other disciplines such as Internal Medicine, Urology, OB-GYN, Palliative Care, Nuclear Medicine, Family Medicine and Surgery.
The department also has an active Fellowship Program . Fellows become involved for an additional 1-2 years of training to specialize in research and/or clinical practice.
