What Do The Statistics Mean?

The C. difficile rate is calculated as follows:

(Number of new hospital acquired cases of C. difficile associated disease (CDAD) associated with the reporting facility) x 1000 ÷ Number of patient days

This rate represents the rate of hospital-acquired CDAD per 1,000 patient days.

The number represents the number of new cases associated with the hospital.
