Rates
Quarterly rates for VAPs are calculated using the following formula:
| total # of ICU cases of VAP after 48 hours of mechanical ventilation | x1000 |
| total # of ventilator days for ICU patients 18 years and older |
Numbers
The numbers represent the incidents of ventilator associated pneumonia acquired by ICU patients during the reported time period.
*South Street Hospital is exempt from this public reporting indicator, as no ICU exists at this site.
