Our mission:

Clinical Nutrition at the London Health Sciences Centre is committed to the provision of optimal nutrition care for our patients, their families and the community. It encourages the highest standards of clinical practice, education and research for the advancement of dietetic practice in the patient-centered model of care.

Guiding principles:

The practice of dietetics and nutrition by dietitians at the London Health Sciences Centre involves the translation and application of the scientific knowledge of foods and human nutrition towards the attainment, maintenance, and promotion of the health of individuals and groups. Clinical Nutrition at London Health Sciences Centre adheres to the standards of practice, legislation and conduct as mandated by the College of Dietitians of Ontario, and the Dietitians of Canada.

We are committed to:

  • providing quality nutrition services and education for our patients in the processes of illness, recovery, and the promotion of health, wellness and quality of life.

  • providing leadership to advocate for and promote optimal nutrition care for patients, as integral members of the interdisciplinary team.

  • providing education and teaching to students, health professionals and the community to increase the understanding of clinical nutrition.

  • promoting the recruitment and advancement of dietetic interns into the profession.

  • ensuring that clinical nutrition plays an integral role in program planning and policy development at the London Health Sciences Centre.

  • pursuing excellence of service, innovation in practice and advancement of the profession through scholarly study, academic linkages, research, quality programs and outcome-based projects.

  • promoting and strengthening partnerships and continuity of care by networking with linkages in the community, professional organizations and other health care institutions.
