LONDON, ON – CSTAR’s Brent and Marilyn Kelman Centre for Advanced Learning, a unique learning centre unlike any other in Canada, is officially launching its training program today. The Centre is a high-tech facility where students, trainees and surgeons from around the world train in the latest surgical, interventional and robotic advances using sophisticated simulation equipment.
The Brent and Marilyn Kelman Centre is located in the Lindros Legacy Research building, one of the most fully integrated interventional research sites in the world. There, researchers from Lawson Health Research Institute, London Health Sciences Centre, CSTAR and The University of Western Ontario are driving the next generation of advancements in health care. To support the cost construction and initial equipping of the centre, $4.7 million was wholly-funded by the generosity of donors through London Health Sciences Foundation. The Kelman’s provided the lead gift of just over $525,000.
“The Brent and Marilyn Kelman Centre is another defining program in the Lindros Legacy Research building, bringing the latest thinking and technology to the next generation of surgical training. It will join with the other Lindros Legacy programs in driving advancement in health care training and research for years to come,” says Dr. David Hill, Scientific Director, Lawson Health Research Institute.
