Demolition to begin in January of former South Street Hospital

 

LONDON, OntarioLondon Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) has recently awarded a contract to ProGreen Demolition Ltd. who will complete the demolition of the former South Street Hospital buildings.

 

Letters have been sent to SOHO residents, inviting them to a community open house to learn more about the impact of the decommissioning and the future of the lands on Wednesday, January 8, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Holdsworth Auditorium (373 Hill St.). Representatives from LHSC, the City of London, ProGreen Demolition, and AECOM (who are overseeing the decommissioning project), will be available to share information and answer questions.

 

Fences will begin to be erected around South Street Hospital and adjacent buildings the week of January 6. Decommissioning and demolition is expected to begin shortly thereafter and will take approximately one year to complete.

 

Media are welcome to attend the community open house. Interviews will not be available prior to this event.
