The Perioperative Blood Conservation Program (PBCP) at London Health Sciences Centre is within Surgery Services.
The purpose of PBCP is to assist patients who will be having surgery to decrease or completely avoid the need for blood transfusion.
The PBCP team includes surgeons, anesthesiologists, hematologists, as well as health professionals from the Preadmission Clinic, Surgical Preparation, Operating Room, Post-Anesthetic Recovery, Surgery floors, Pharmacy, Intravenous Therapy Clinics, and Blood Transfusion Laboratory. The PBCP algorithm directs each patient's plan of care.
The PBCP nurses are the main contact, coordinating this aspect of patient care. In your health care professional role, you may be asked to facilitate patient care.
