The Perioperative Patient Blood Management Program (PPBMP) at London Health Sciences Centre is within Surgery Services.
The purpose of PPBMP is to assist patients who will be having surgery to decrease or completely avoid the need for blood transfusion.
The PPBMP team includes surgeons, anesthesiologists, hematologists, as well as health professionals from the Preadmission Clinic, Surgical Preparation, Operating Room, Post-Anesthetic Recovery, Surgery floors, Pharmacy, Intravenous Therapy Clinics, and Blood Transfusion Laboratory. The PPBMP algorithm directs each patient's plan of care.
The PPBMP nurses are the main contact, coordinating this aspect of patient care. In your health care professional role, you may be asked to facilitate patient care.
