Clinical nurses usually work 12-hour shifts, from 7:00-7:00. Between 6:30 and 7:30, they will be in the process of shift change activities.
Each nurse gives a one-on-one report to the oncoming nurse. Nurses begin organizing their report in advance, in order to ensure all important information is communicated. As soon as report is finished, the oncoming nurse will complete an assessment of the patient and being developing a plan for the upcoming shift.
Unless special circumstances exist, most nurses prefer to limit visiting between 6:30-7:30 in order to reduce distractions and allow them to focus their attention on patient care planning. We appreciate your support.
