How to Erase Your Browser History

Sometimes it is possible for others to see what pages were visited on a specific computer. Software such as Internet Explorer and Netscape retain a history (list) of the sites that you have visited. If your privacy and/or safety is of concern to you, and you feel that your visit to this website should remain private, here are the steps you may take to erase your browser history:
(Note: this will not harm your computer in any way)

  1. Click the button marked History in the toolbar of Internet Explorer.
  2. The history of visited web sites or pages will appear on the left.
  3. Under today’s pages, highlight each Women’s Health page name showing (should be the last entries) and hit the delete key on your keyboard.
  4. Exit the Internet Explorer browser. This method will only delete the selected pages.

If you have an older version of Windows you will have to follow these steps instead:

  1. On your Internet Explorer browser menu bar, click on Tools.
  2. Click Internet Options.
  3. In the section called Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files then click OK.
  4. In the section called History, click Delete History then click OK.

NOTE: This method will delete all pages visited since the history began.

Important! You can NEVER be completely sure that someone will not be able to see that you visited our site. Since the person who owns or looks after the computer that you use may have put on a type of software that will record what is done with the computer when they are not around” (Kids Help Phone, 2004).
