Gift of Life Donor Quilt

The Gift of Life Donor Quilt was organized by the London Transplant Gift of Life Association. The idea originated with Jane Tucker, President of the London Transplant Gift of Life Association.

The Multi-Organ Transplant Program at LHSC worked with the Association to invite donor families and living donors to take part. The quilt honours those who have donated in order to save the lives of others. The quilt's permanent home will be at our hospital, and it is available for display at community events to help increase awareness about the ongoing need for organ and tissue donation.

Each square of the quilt individually represents one donor. Donor familes and living donors may use the square to remember sentimental things such as a photo, hobby, poem and talent. The square is a personal loving tribute and should reflect memories of the donor. Along with the quilt, an album was established with a personal story and photo for each quilt patch.

To read these stories from the Donor Quilt, you can click on each individual patch of the quilt.

Because of the success of this project, plans are underway for more Quilts. If you're a donor family or living donor from this area, please contact Jane Tucker, President of the London Transplant Gift of Life Association to discuss this next project.
