This quilt patch represents that I was able to marry the man of my dreams in August 2000, and “live happily ever after” because of someone’s generous “gift of life”.
I was diagnosed with liver disease – primary sclerosing cholangitis – at age 21. I managed to stay relatively healthy until age 27, when my health started to decline rapidly. I was then placed on the transplant list and waited for approximately a year and a half before I got the call that saved my life.
It has been 6 years since my transplant and I have been able to resume a normal, active life. I can’t find the words that express my gratitude to the family who made such a selfless decision and gave me another chance at life.
I am living proof that organ donation works.
Please sign your organ donor card; someday it might save the life of someone you love.
