Concerns About Perflurocompounds There are several types of adverse reactions reported from infusion of perfluorocompounds. These include:

There are concerns about the long term effect that perflourocompounds will have on the liver and other organs if they are not excreted. Environmentalists have also expressed concerns since perflourocompounds are highly stable compounds. Once formed, they do not break down naturally. There is uncertainty of what breakdown products will form if perflourocompounds are burned. This might occur unsuspectedly if recipients of these compounds were cremated after they died.
