Specimen Collection Guide – Microarray/Array CGH

A minimum of 3mL (1mL for newborns) peripheral blood in a sterile, EDTA vacutainer should be sent directly to the Genetics Laboratory at Credit Valley Hospital. If <3mL is collected, it must be in a 3mL vacutainer to allow for appropriate sample to anticoagulant ratio.

Fibroblast cell culture requires 2 x T25 (50 mL) confluent flasks at room temperature.
All specimens should be collected and shipped at room temperature (15-25ºC). Avoid collecting and/or shipping specimens on Thursdays and Fridays. Do not spin, freeze, heat, open or separate sample (must maintain sterility). Any questions or concerns should be directed through the Genetics Laboratory at Credit Valley Hospital.
