A scheduled courier services is in place to make routine deliveries to the LLSG laboratories at the following times:

Monday to Friday
1030
1230
3:30 pm

Saturday
1200 noon

Delivery of the specimens to the laboratory takes less than 5 minutes from the time the specimens are picked up from Parkwood Hospital.
You can track the progress of a test request through PowerChart.

If you have a specimen to transport outside of the routinely scheduled courier service, call Aboutown Taxi at 432-2222 and request a taxi to pick up the specimen. When you contact Aboutown provide them the number of the pager that you will be carrying * and ask that they use the phone outside of the security office at the Parkwood entrance or the phone outside of the Veterans Care Program at the Western Counties Wing entrance to enter the pager number and page “99” **. The taxi will then deliver the specimen to Victoria Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, 800 Commissioners Road E., Room D1-218.

Transport Canada TC2A approved shipping containers are available in the laboratory area (blue padded bags with rigid plastic liners).
OR
STAT boxes are available from room B119. Collect the sample, put it in the stat box and call Aboutown Cab. Cab vouchers are available in room B119.


Stats


A taxi should be dispatched at any time to deliver stat specimens if the regular scheduled courier will not deliver the specimen in an adequate time period. For STATs Monday-Friday (excluding statuatory holidays) from 0700-1200, send the STAT sample to the laboratory (room B119) and the laboratory staff will take care of transporting the specimen. Outside of these hours, it is the floors responsibility to call Aboutown and provide them the number of the pager that you will be carrying * and ask that they use the phone outside of the security office at the Parkwood entrance or the phone outside of the Veterans Care Program at the Western Counties Wing entrance to enter the pager number and page “99” **. The taxi will then deliver the specimen to Victoria Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, 800 Commissioners Road E., Room D1-218.

* Unit process may be to use the porter pager after hours or another available pager
