Portfolio Tips for Option A
Before
you receive your notice
You must keep up to date records of all your continuing education
activities. This includes activities such as reading journals, lectures
, courses. To help you do this the CMLTO portfolio forms have been
added to the London Lab Services Website. Using the Citrix Desktop,
you can copy the Professional Activity Log to your P: drive and
maintain your records on any computer in your work area.
To save the Activity Log
on your P: drive.
Note: you must be using the Citrix
Desktop
1)
Open Internet Explorer or Netscape and find the London Lab Services
Website
2) Under Staff Information
click on CMLTO Portfolio
3)
Open the Professional Activity Log. The file will open up in Microsoft
Word.
4) Go up to the Task
Bar and under [File] choose SAVE AS. This opens a Save As window.
5) At the top of this
window there is another small window labelled [Save In] Use the
[down arrow] on the right hand side of this window to open it up.
It will now display all the available ‘drives’.
6)
Find your P (personal) drive (it should have your name attached
to it) and double click on it. The Save As window reopens displaying
all the items that you have currently saved in your P drive.
7) Click Save. The
Activity Log is now saved on your P drive.
To Access the Activity Log
saved on your P: drive.
N.B. Again, you must be on the Citrix
Desktop
1)
Double Click on the Microsoft Word Icon
2) Go to File on the
task bar and click on Open.This will open up a window that is labelled
[Look In]. It should open directly into your P drive. If not, click
on the down arrow and find your P drive from the list.
3)
Select your Portfolio from the display and double click to open
4) Enter the information
you wish to add.
5) Click on save
After
you receive your notice
1) First, take a deep
breath.
2) Then, go the CMLTO.com
web page and under Publications review the Portfolio Handbook. Make
sure that the documents that you will be submitting are current.
At the moment you are required to submit the following : a career
summary (resume) Professional development (your Activity Log) for
the previous two years plus the calendar year of your audit, Scope
of practice Self Assessment. This should be done at the time of
your audit.
Scope of Practice
(For Microbiology only)
1)
For the Scope of Practice you will need to go to the London Lab
Services Website/Microbiology.You will find a current Scope of Practice
for Micorbiology maintained by the “Microbiology Continuing
Education Team”
2) Follow the instructions
listed above to save this to your P drive.
3) Review the Scope
of practice and edit or delete sections as determined by your speciality
areas.
Self
Assessment (Safety and Problem Solving,Decesion Making)
1)
Go to the London Lab Services Website
2) Under Staff Information
click on CMLTO Portfolio
3) Choose the Safety
and the Problem Solving, Decision Making Forms and print these out.
4) Fill them in at
the time of the audit as they should reflect your state at the time
of the audit.
