INPATIENT GYNECOLOGY


Program Description:


This program provides acute care needs for gynecological surgery, and women’s only surgical oncology. Some of the services offered in this area are benign gynecological surgery and gynecological cancer surgery.


General Information:


Number of beds: 14


Team Composition:

RN’s, Gynecologists, Gynecological Oncologists, Anesthesiologists, Social Workers, and other Physicians

Average Length of Stay:

Gynecology Surgery (1-3 days), Gynecology/Oncology Surgery (2-5 days, sometimes longer)

Nurse to patient ratio: 1:3-4 (Days) 1:4-5 (Nights)

Hospital Site: Victoria Hospital Level 4

Scheduling Information:


  • 12 hour shifts available: 0700-1900 and 1900-0700

Background Essentials:

  • 1 year general nursing

Professional Assets:

  • Venipuncture
  • IV experience
  • Surgical Background

Professional Development:

  • Coordinators communicate relevant conferences to attend
  • In-services are provided as needed
  • Orientation
  • Professional Development is encouraged


Student Consolidation:

  • 4th year consolidation available, but surgical background is required
