Autopsy case room for forensic and hospital autopsies

Division of Autopsy Services

Autopsy suites at LHSC-UH see more than 900 post-mortem examinations per year including hospital cases. The service acts as a tertiary referral and forensic pathology centre for the Southwestern Ontario region.

LHSC is an important undergraduate and postgraduate teaching facility and research resource supporting many internal and collaborative medical and scientific research projects.

The Forensic Pathology division collaborates with the Ontario Coroner's system as well as the Ontario Provincial Police, Police Forces from London and other municipalities for approximately 700 cases per year.

Pathology faculty play a central role in:

  • Determination of cause of death
  • Diagnosis
  • Implementation of safety measures
  • Public education
  • Expert testimony in the courts of law
