Raising more than hope

At Children’s Health Foundation, Raising Hope® is more than just a slogan. It is a philosophy that encompasses everything we do for our children. From a new Children’s Hospital with leading edge equipment, to a renowned Children’s Health Research Institute finding innovative treatments for chronic childhood diseases, donor support helps raise hope for those who need it most.

When the new Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre officially opens in September 2011, our donors, community, volunteers and staff can take enormous pride in the role they have played to provide our children and their families with an incredible place of hope and healing. After years of dedication, commitment and generosity, our donors have helped us become a true centre of excellence in child health care and research.

In 2010, our donors helped us raise more than just hope. Thanks to their continued generosity, we granted $4.1 million for children’s health including:

• $1,000,000 to specialized services and programs like the Child Life Program;

• $771,000 for specialized medical equipment such as three lifesaving ventilators for the Paediatric Critical Care Unit;

• $1,035,000 towards critical child health research into the causes and cures of child illnesses and diseases like epilepsy and traumatic brain injuries; and

• $1,325,000 for child health care priorities, such as childhood obesity, epigenetics and chronic illness issues.

2011 will undoubtedly be a year of renewal with new beginnings and new hope at Children’s. The foundation has committed $2 million to purchase 52 monitors for the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Thank you to our donors for helping to make this important milestone of a new Children’s Hospital a reality for our community and for the thousands of children and their families who rely on its specialized care and expertise. We cannot do any of this important work without you.
