The smallest effort can make the biggest impact

July 20, 2012

Dear Bonnie,

The smallest effort can make the biggest impact in someone's life. Going above and beyond is part of great team work and the linen room staff at Victoria Hospital demonstrate this daily.

Recently, a family on B6 lost their child's comfy blanket and the child was very sad without it. A staff member on B6 had left a note for the linen room to inform them of the situation, hoping they could search the linen room or contact LHSC’s outside laundry vendor to help locate the blanket and bring a smile back to the child's face. After a week of continuous searching, with great teamwork and determination, it was recovered and brought back to the child's room and no reward was better then seeing the look on the mother and child's face.

This clearly shows that it doesn't matter what kind of car you drive, how big your house is, or how much money you have, making a difference in a child's life is truly a joy.

The linen room staff received the following handwritten note:

Thank you... thank you... thank you everyone!!

Last week a mother lost her baby blanket. I left a note asking for your department to keep an eye out for it.

Voila! The mother just stopped by to say “Thank you so much.” You came through and she and her baby are externally grateful. You "wowed" us both. What a needle in a haystack miracle, and what a department!
