Salary and Benefits Program for Registered Nurses
In a unique blending of union and non-union environments, our nurses are represented by the Ontario Nurses' Association at the Victoria Hospital and South Street Hospital, and are non-union at the University Hospital.

Salaries
Staff nurse salaries at LHSC are in accordance with the Ontario Nurses' Association Collective Agreement and commensurate with experience. The salary scale in effect for Registered Nurse positions is as follows:
Salary range $28.50 - $40.49 per hour with additional 2% ($40.00/hr) after 25 years of Full Time (1500 hours per year) experience.
Salary placement is based on one step for each year of recent, related clinical experience up to the maximum of the scale. All staff nurses receive shift premiums, as follows:

The benefit program is provided to all full-time nurses. Part-time nurses in a non-union environment working 22.5 hours per week or more are eligible to enroll. All other nurses receive an additional 13% of their pay in lieu of benefits (9% if participating in the Pension Plan).
Employees may also take advantage of the low rates that apply to our group home and auto insurance plans and, for those participating in the benefit program, the group rates for additional voluntary life insurance (for self and family members) as well as the convenience of payroll deduction for group RRSPs.

Vacation and Holidays
Vacation entitlement is based on continuous length of service, with full-time nurses receiving paid vacation, and casual and part-time nurses receiving the equivalent vacation pay as a percentage of their pay, as follows:
