Observers and Sponsored Learner Placements

We welcome all individuals who are interested in learning more about the field of speech-language pathology.

Observerships

Opportunities for one half-day of observership are available to those who would like to meet with one of our speech-language pathologists and ask any questions they may have regarding the field. As a part of this half day, opportunity is given to observe patient assessments.

Individuals interested in this opportunity should contact Learner Affairs via email at student_affairs@lhsc.on.ca and review the information on the Observerships (Job Shadowing) Information web page

Sponsored Learner Placements

We offer 4-month sponsored learner placements for individuals who are hoping to pursue a career in speech-language pathology and may or may not need volunteer experience to apply to a speech-language pathology program.

In the past, these individuals have played important roles in our service. Some of their activities have included entering and storing data for research projects, preparation of power point presentations for patients, and cataloguing inventory of tests and equipment. These sponsored learners in return are afforded opportunities to meet patients and learn about the various roles of a speech-language pathologist.

Individuals interested in these opportunities should contact Robin Magri, Administrative Assistant, Speech-Language Pathology via telephone at 519-685-8500 extension 58435.
