London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) has won the 2025 Canadian Blood Services (CBS) Hospital Challenge for the second year in a row!
Blood donations play a critical role in everyday medical care, and it's only with the help of donations that a steady supply remains available for our community. The annual, province-wide CBS Hospital Challenge, now in its 16th year, sees hospitals across Ontario competing to donate the most units of blood per capita, based on their employee population. Donations are tracked through the Partners for Life program.
Generous people gave 121 units of blood donation on behalf of LHSC between August and October 2025. That’s a four per cent increase from last year!
This generosity ensures that even more people have the blood and blood products they need to make it through major surgeries, medical procedures, cancer treatments, managing diseases, and so much more.
“I’m inspired by our community’s continued generosity and for winning this challenge two years running,” says David Musyj, Supervisor at LHSC. “From staff, physicians, learners and volunteers to community members, folks have risen to the challenge, going above and beyond to support our patients.”
Every day, 450 new donors are needed to meet the growing demand for blood, and LHSC is a dedicated partner in meeting that need. With each donation, more lives are saved.
The journey isn’t over
CBS is calling on people across the country to become new donors. From now until March 31, when you book and attending a blood or plasma donation appointment or join the Canadian Blood Services’ Stem Cell Registry you can enter for a chance to win round-trip tickets for two, courtesy of Air Canada Foundation.
