To the communities we serve,

In June, we announced the launch of recruitment for a renewed London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) Board of Directors. At that time, we shared our commitment to attracting skilled, experienced, and diverse candidates who could help guide the next chapter of LHSC's renewal and future success.

Today, I wanted to provide an update on the recruitment process, which has been met with an exceptional response from our community. We received more than 90 applications from individuals interested in serving on the renewed Board. The level of interest reflects a strong commitment to the future of health care in southwestern Ontario and to the continued success of LHSC.

I have been encouraged not only by the number of applications we received, but also by the breadth of experience and perspectives represented among the candidates. Applicants bring governance expertise, leadership experience, professional and technical knowledge, community involvement, and valuable lived experience. Together, they reflect a community that cares deeply about the future of LHSC and is eager to contribute to its success.

The selection committee, consisting of health system leaders, government partners, and a patient partner, is currently conducting a comprehensive review of all applications using a consistent evaluation process designed to ensure fairness and objectivity. Once that review is complete, the committee will meet to identify the candidates who will move forward to the interview stage.

Given the volume of applications received, the review process is expected to continue through late August and early September, with interviews anticipated later in September.

The response to this recruitment reflects the confidence many people have in the work underway at LHSC and their desire to help shape what comes next. As we continue strengthening our governance, accountability, and transparency, it is encouraging to see so many individuals willing to share their expertise in support of our organization and the communities we serve.

I want to sincerely thank every individual who submitted an application. Serving on a Board requires a significant commitment of time, thought, and energy. The willingness of so many people to step forward demonstrates the deep connection they feel to LHSC and the care we provide.

While not everyone who applied will ultimately join the Board, I hope every applicant knows how much we appreciate their willingness to serve. Applications will be saved for consideration in future recruitment. The exceptional response reflects a community that is engaged, invested, and committed to helping shape the future of one of Canada's largest academic health sciences centres.

As the recruitment process continues, we remain committed to providing updates and maintaining transparency about our progress. Thank you for your continued support of LHSC and the patients, families, and communities we serve.

Sincerely,

David Musyj
