As London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) continues its work to strengthen its hospitals, it is now turning its focus to an important next step: building a volunteer Board of Directors that will help guide one of Canada’s largest hospitals into the future.
LHSC is seeking applications for new Board members, inviting community-minded leaders that will bring diverse skills, experience, and perspectives to this important work.
“At LHSC, great people lead great care,” says David Musyj, Supervisor at LHSC. “A seat at the Board table is more than a position; it is a voice, a responsibility, and a chance to shape care for generations of patients, staff, and communities.”
Over the past two years, LHSC has undertaken significant work to strengthen its governance, leadership, operations, and financial practices following the appointment of a Supervisor by Ontario’s Ministry of Health. With this foundation in place, recruiting a new Board represents a meaningful step forward in the hospital’s renewal, supporting its mission in patient care, teaching and research.
“We’ve been open about the work underway at LHSC, and we’re now at a moment where we’re ready to build the governance structure that will support the organization for years to come,” adds Musyj.
The recruitment process is designed to be open, transparent, and accessible. LHSC invites applications from diverse, community-minded leaders with experience in governance and/or senior leadership in the public, private, not-for-profit, academic, Indigenous, or community sectors. Areas of expertise may include:
- Health-care systems, clinical practice, public health, or population health;
- Equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism;
- Indigenous health, Reconciliation, and partnerships;
- Finance, audit, risk management, capital planning, or investment;
- Law, ethics, privacy, governance, or regulatory compliance;
- Research, innovation, education, or academic medicine;
- Labour relations, human resources, leadership, or organizational culture;
- Community development, philanthropy, or fundraising;
- Health system transformation, modernization, or change management;
- Artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, information technology, cybersecurity, or data governance;
- Large-scale capital, infrastructure, construction, or facilities management projects;
- Government, public policy, intergovernmental relations, or stakeholder engagement;
- Patient, family, caregiver, or community engagement; and/or
- Lived experience as a patient, family member, caregiver, or community advocate.
“This is your opportunity to bring your perspective, skills, and experience to decisions that have a real impact,” said Musyj. “We’re looking for community-minded leaders who want to help guide what comes next. It’s important that our Board reflects the people we serve, individuals with diverse perspectives lead to stronger decisions, and ultimately better care.”
Applications are open until July 31, 2026. If you’re ready to help guide decisions that affect care, people, and the future of our community, apply at lhsc.on.ca/board and take a seat that matters.
